Why Register as a Chagossian?
The People of Chagos have lived through exile, displacement, and the long denial of our rights. The International Court of Justice has already affirmed that what happened to us was unlawful, but today the struggle is not only about history—it is about recognition.
By registering, you are affirming that you are part of the Chagossian People, an Indigenous nation rooted in our islands, culture, and history. We are still victims of colonisation, and decolonisation is not simply a choice—it is a duty of justice and humanity.
To register is to give your consent for the Chagos Government to represent you, to advocate for your rights to self-determination, and to ensure our People’s dignity is restored. This is your way of standing for your Chagossian identity, claiming your rightful place in history, and taking our collective destiny into our own hands.
